PowerVM Virtual I/O Server (VIOS) is being used by many IBM i clients to virtualize external storage and networking resources to optimize their IT infrastructure. This workshop will help you obtain skills to design and deploy VIOS partitions to host external storage and networking for IBM i client partitions. We will overview and examine several configurations of the components used in these solutions. Through lecture, hands-on lab activities, and demonstrations, students will learn the key concepts needed to install and configure VIOS partitions and to configure IBM i partitions so they can be hosted by VIOS using external storage.
Audience
- IBM i systems administrators and architects that are working with IBM i workloads that will be using external storage and will be hosted by VIOS.
- Storage and networking administrators that are implementing solutions that include IBM Power Systems with VIOS and IBM i partitions.
- While this workshop may use examples of IBM Storwize V7000 storage, this workshop can also be useful for those using other types of IBM external storage.
